Steph Curry is out looking for redemption after his Under Armour Curry 2’s were pretty much the laughing stock of the Internet when they were released.
The two-time league MVP will release a pair of sneakers tomorrow to celebrate his second annual summer tour in China, which kicked off today.
The tour is put on to help inspire a love for the game of basketball all over Asia. The two new UA Curry 2.5 pairs known as the Journey to Excellence Pack will be available on UA.com for $135.
Taking a complete left turn from the original 2’s, the Pack features two multi-colored shoes inspired by the classic Chinese novel Journey to the West. Both colorways are named after the main characters of the 16th century classic, Sun Wukong and Erlang Shen.
The Sun Wukong’s are dipped in yellow and red tones, which were put on the shoe to represent the hero’s ability to overcome all obstacles, which relates perfectly to Curry’s journey to stardom.
The Erlang Shan’s on the other hand, paint a more calming picture. They’re white/blue/black with red accents, and they represent focus and the vision to see all possibilities on the court. Needless to say, another fitting representation of the league’s first ever unanimous MVP.
