GSSSA Basketball
SENIOR BOYS
CI Gibson Rattlers – 53
RM Bailey Pacers – 32
The defending Hugh Campbell champions looked the part as they dominated the nightcap at the DW Davis Gymnasium. Ira Farrington scored a game high 17 points, while Johnley Noel finished with 11 for the Rattlers. Despite the lopsided scoreboard, Rattlers head coach Kevin Johnson said his team had much room for growth.
“We were still making too many mistakes, still had too many turnovers. Some of the guys thought the game was in hand so they got complacent but we don’t be able to do that as the season wares on,” he said, “Communication is key, in every sport, especially basketball you have to communicate to be in sync and that’s the only way to develop as a unit. To be in sync and have a single mindset.”
The Rattlers took a 17-9 lead at the end of the first quarter after Noel score on back to back fast break layups.
They took a 30-16 lead at the half and a 39-22 into the fourth following a dunk from Farrington.
