GRAND BAHAMA – The most noticeable thing missing from last year’s Bahamas Baseball Federation: Andre Rodgers National Baseball Championships were the Freedom Farm Baseball League.
A year later, after forgoing to the 2015 Championships the Farmers made their return and their presence felt at the 2016 installment with a complete sweep of all five division championships this past Sunday, June 26.
With a vocal fan base, as always, behind them at the Emera Baseball Complex, the Farmers were able to put together a stellar run dropping just two games in Round About Play.
The Farmers walked away with the Insurance Management Coach Pitch Division title by defeating Legacy Baseball (Grand Bahama) 7-6. Grand Bahama Little League (GBLL) went on to claim the bronze medal match 10-9 over the Junior Baseball League of Nassau.
The Farmers took on the JBLN in the GBPA 9-10 Division, downing them 3-1. Legacy Baseball dominated GBLL, winning the bronze medal tilt 16-6.
The Farmers ran away with the Gatorade 11-12 Division with a 12-5 triumph over the Grand Bahama Amateur Baseball Association (GBABA). JBLN caught fire in the bronze medal contest and defeated Legacy Baseball 17-3.
The Farmers continued their surge in the Summit Insurance 13-15 Junior Division. Firing on all cylinders, Freedom Farm rolled on to a 12-2 win over the GBABA. JBLN got the bronze medal win over Eleuthera Baseball, 13-5.
The FOCOL 16-18 High School Championship was another commanding victory for the Farmers, who bested JBLN 13-3 for the gold. GBABA were the bronze medal winners by default.
