Strong performances turned in at 2016 CBBI

Thousands of track and field fans gathered at the Thomas A Robinson National Stadium on Saturday in support of the second Chris Brown Bahamas Invitational (CBBI).

The single day meet featured some of the brightest stars in the sport of athletics and served as a good test point for most of the athletes to track their progress thus far, as they continue to prepare for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Some of the major names that participated in the event include- Kirani James, Shaunae Miller, Justin Gatlin, Lashawn Merritt, Veronica Campbell-Brown, Christian Taylor and Bianca ‘BB’ Stuart.

Gatlin took the men’s 100 meter (m) dash in 9.90 seconds. Femi Ogundoe was second in 9.94 seconds and Adrian Griffith finished third in 10.03 seconds.

Kirani James won the men’s 400m dash in 44.36 seconds, followed by Tony McQuay in 45.34 seconds and Jeremy Warner in 45.55 seconds.

Shaunae Miller won the women’s 400m in 49.70 seconds, Tori Bowie took the women’s 200m dash in 22.26 seconds and Lashawn Merritt won the men’s 200 in 19.78.
