by JOHN-MARC NUTT

It took an extra period, but the HO Nash lions overcame a 10 point defect to win the GSSSA JR Boys title, 2 -1 over the DW Davis Royals.

DW Davis came out strong scoring the first half taking a nine point lead into half.

They pushed to lead to 10, when the wheels started to fall off and the Lions staged a comeback.

HO Nash went to a full court press and scored 10 unanswered points off turnovers to cut the lead to two.

The remainder of the half went back and forth and Tyrell Butler tied the game up with five seconds left in regulation to force overtime.

Down by six in the overtime period, the Lions dominated the offensive boards and made clutch free throws down the stretch.

The game concluded with a tarnished finished as the Royals were called for three technical fouls clinching the game for the Lions.

Butler lead the Royals with 22 points.

Series MVP Tyeko Lowe had a double double posting 18 points and 11 rebounds.
