NBA
VJ Edgecombe is set to earn $12.2 million in the 2027-28 season after the Philadelphia 76ers exercised the third-year rookie-scale option on his contract.
The announcement, made Monday by President of Basketball Operations Mike Gansey, follows a standout rookie campaign in which Edgecombe averaged 16 points, 5.6 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.4 steals per game.
The third overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft started 75 games and earned unanimous selection to the NBA All-Rookie First Team.
He also became the first 76ers rookie since Allen Iverson in 1996-97 to record at least 1,000 points and 125 three-pointers in a season, finishing with 1,199 points and 149 three-pointers.
Edgecombe also recorded 107 steals, making him the only player from his draft class to reach at least 100 steals and 100 three-pointers during his rookie campaign.
The 21-year-old now turns his attention to the 2026-27 season, where he will look to build on that success alongside Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, Jaylen Brown and LeBron James in Philadelphia.
UB Mingoes Soccer
The University of The Bahamas Mingoes men’s soccer team has completed a historic unbeaten international tour, finishing with four wins and two draws after a 1-1 draw against Trinity College of Florida on Saturday.
Captain Ronaldo Green put UB ahead in Coral Springs, but the Tigers equalized in the 41st minute. A thunderstorm forced officials to abandon the match in the second half, with approximately 20 minutes remaining.
Head coach Alex Thompson praised his team’s leadership and said he believed the Mingoes were gaining momentum before the weather intervened.
UB opened the tour with a 2-2 draw against Millennia Atlantic University before recording wins of 5-3, 6-3, 9-1 and 8-2 against their remaining opponents.
The result also extends the Mingoes’ unbeaten run against international colleges to nine matches, dating back to last season.
