UNITED STATES – Buddy Hield is on the move again. This time the veteran guard headed to the Charlotte Hornets in a trade with the Atlanta Hawks.
Atlanta is sending Hield, guard Ryan Nembhard and cash considerations to Charlotte in exchange for veteran forward dorian Finney-Smith.
The move comes after Hield had a limited role in Atlanta last season following his mid-season arrival from Golden State.
He played just seven regular-season games for the Hawks, averaging 7.3 minutes, 5.1 points and 1.1 rebounds per game as his limited role contributing to career-low numbers for the season.
Across Golden State and Atlanta, Hield averaged 7.6 points in 51 games, while his 34.9% three-point shooting was also a career low.
Charlotte now becomes the seventh NBA franchise Hield has played for, following New Orleans, Sacramento, Indiana, Philadelphia, Golden State and Atlanta.
This is the fifth time Hield has been traded in his NBA career, giving the 33-year-old another opportunity to re-establish himself as one of the league’s premier three-point shooters.
Chisholm Returns From IL
Jazz Chisholm Jr. returned to the New York Yankees lineup Tuesday night, but the Rays spoiled his return with a six-one win in the second game of a doubleheader.
Chisholm, activated from the 10-day injured list after missing 12 games with a sprained right thumb, started at second base and hit sixth.
He went one-for-three with a walk, while also making a running over-the-shoulder catch and helping turn a double play.
The Rays broke the game open with three runs in the seventh and two more in the ninth, while Drew Rasmussen took a no-hitter into the seventh and finished with 11 strikeouts.
The loss allowed Tampa Bay to clinch the AL East title, while the Yankees still secured home-field advantage for their upcoming wild-card series.
For Chisholm, the focus now shifts to getting back into rhythm as New York prepares for the postseason.
Clarke Continues China Swing With More Events Ahead
Bahamian tennis player Sydney Clarke picked up a win in qualifying at the W15 Maanshan Open in China before her run came to an end in the second round.
Clarke opened with a 7-6, 6-2 win over China’s Yu Hang Zhou, before falling to another Chinese player, Aoyi Li, 6-2, 6-3 in the second round.
The result leaves Clarke one-and-one in qualifying at the event, which features a 32-player main draw and is being played on hard courts with $15,000.
However, Clarke’s China swing isn’t over – the next two events are also W15 tournaments in Maanshan, with one beginning September 28 and the next starting October 5th.
Both events are listed as $15,000 tournaments, giving Clarke two more opportunities to earn ranking points and make a run into a main draw.
