The team that represented The Bahamas at the Caribbean Island Swimming Championships (CISC) closed out the competition in grand fashion at home on Saturday night.
The Bahamas went into the final day ahead by more than 100 points and capitalized on the lead, winning the majority of Saturday’s races.
The Bahamas finished the competition with a grand total of 1,060 points; Puerto Rico was second with 870, Trinidad and Tobago came in third with 770, Jamaica finished fourth with 564 and Barbados rounded out the top five with 508.
Team Bahamas racked up 78 medals over the course of the four-day meet, including 33 gold, 23 silver and 22 bronze.
The Bahamas’ time in the pool on Saturday was highlighted by Justin Tynes’ Olympic B qualifier in the men’s 100 meter (m) breast. Along with qualifying, his time of 1:02.55 was a new CISC record.
Izaak Bastian picked up two gold medals in the 13-14 boys 50 free and 100 breast in 24.08 seconds and 1:06.24 respectively. Both were CISC records.
And in the 15-17 girls 100 breast, the sister duo of Margaret and Lilly Higgs captured gold and silver. Margaret touched the wall in 1:13.63, followed closely by Lilly in 1:13.70.
