Walcott Surges In September, Named To Fall League Roster

At the end of August, Sebastian Walcott was the fourth ranked prospect in the Minor Leagues, but since the calendar flipped to September, he’s making the case for why he should be number one. In fact, if he leads the Roughriders to the playoffs, he has to be.

Walcott’s play throughout the month have not only kept his Frisco Roughriders’ postseason hopes alive in the AA Texas league but he was also named to an Arizona fall league roster.

His latest late game heroics, a walkoff single to give Frisco a 4-3 win over North West Arkansas last night to open the final regular season series of the year.

In the previous game, Walcott led his team to a 5–1 victory over the Midland Rockhounds.

He finished 2-4 with three rbi.

In September the 19-year-old shortstop is on a seven-game hitting streak, batting .393 with a 1.056 ops, with a triple, home run, seven rbi, three steals, and three multi hit games.

The Roughriders improve to 69–62 – and paired with an Amarillo loss, Frisco’s elimination number is one with five games remaining in the second half.

Walcott and other Rangers’ prospects will join the Surprise Saguaros in the fall league October 6th to November 15th.

The league serves as a showcase for top prospects to gain additional experience against high-level competition
