Nairn Named Head Coach For FIBA Americup

He wore the jersey with Bahamas across his chest for years, now Lourawls “Tum Tum” Nairn Jr will lead from the sidelines in his first opportunity as a national team head coach.

Nairn Jr. Has been named the head coach for the senior men’s national team ahead of the 2025 FIBA Americup, set to take place this month in Nicaragua.

Nairn takes over at a historic moment, as The Bahamas returns to the Americup for the first time in 30 years, last appearing in 1995.

The 30-year-old Nairn brings a combination of national team experience and rapidly rising coaching credentials, currently the associate head coach at Bowling Green State University.

The former Michigan State Spartan served as a graduate assistant at his alma mater under Tom Izzo.

In the NBA he worked in payer development for the Phoenix Suns, served as an assistant at Southern Utah, as well as the head coach at Sunrise Christian Academy, where he led the program to a national elite eight finish.

As a player, he represented The Bahamas at both the junior and senior level, most recently at the Olympic Qualifying Tournament last July.
