Team Bahamas Finishes Second At CARIFTA Athletics

Thirty seven medals – 16 gold, 13 silver and eight bronze. Carifta 52 was one to remember for team Bahamas.

The final session of CARIFTA track and field featured a series of thrilling performances that captivated the spectators both at the Hasely Crawford Stadium and throughout the region.

Eagan Neely and Jachario Wilson rose to the forefront for team Bahamas in the under 17 boys and both concluded their night by winning their fourth gold medals of the meet.

Individually, Wilson won the 110mh hurdles in 13.70s and Neely won the 200m in 21.22s.

The duo teammed with Jonathan Higgs and Jireh Woodside in the 4x400m to set a new CARIFTA record in 3:12.72s.

The Under 20 boys 4x400m team of Zion Davis, Aiden Kelly, Emmanuel Adams, and Zion Miller won gold in 3:06.18s

Two gold medals came in the field – Annae Mackey won the under 20 girls discus with a throw of 53.87m. It was her second medal and second junior national record of the meet.

Kenny Moxey Jr also won gold in the open boys pole vault at 4.30m.

Keyezra Thomas won her fourth silver medal of the meet monday night.

In the under 17 girls 200m she took second in 23.67s and in the 4x400m she teammed with Symiah Crawley, Brion Ward and Denika Gittens for second in 3:45.27s

Medal number three came for Jaze Johnson with a silver medal in the under 17 girls triple jump at 11.99m.

Another pair of bronze medals came in the sprint hurdles, Jasmine Thompson in the under 17 boys 100m in 14.33s and Tahj Brown in the under 20 boys 110m in 13.82s.

Kaiden Kemp took bronze in the under 17 boys discus with a throw of 47.71m, Aaliyah Evans won bronze in the heptahlon with 4625 points and the under 20 girls 4x400m team of Kei-Marie Hanna, Makaih Hitchman, A’Karee Roberts and Darvanique Dean won bronze in 3:41.36s
