It seems as if anytime Tim Munnings suits up, it’s another milestone moment for Bahamian track and field. Over the weekend, Munnings added a world record to his resume.
Munnings won gold in the men’s 55-59 400 meters and set a new world record at the 2025 World Masters Athletics World Indoor Championships in Gainesville, Florida,
He finished in 52.82 seconds, to surpass the previous record of 53.20 seconds
It was a fitting conclusion to the meet for Munnings who was previously disqualified in the 200m heats for a lane infraction.
The former olympic 4×400 relay bronze medalist first made history for The Bahamas at the masters level last year in Sweden with his 400m outdoor title.
Team Bahamas fielded a five member team at the Indoor Champs in Gainsville and won two medals.
Mike Armbrister also won bronze in the men’s 65-69 long jump with a leap of 4.73m
In the women’s 35-39, Miriam Byfield finished seventh overall in both the 200m and 400m.
Dr. Brian Humblestone was fifth in the men’s 85-89 60m and Natasha Brown was 20th overall in the women’s 55-59 long jump.
