Bahamas basketball reached another major milestone on the international stage, the senior men’s national team is headed to the 2025 FIBA Americup.
Team Bahamas finished the third window with a 105-83 loss to the United States Sunday night at the Kendal Isaacs Gymnasium, but the most important thing for the program was what occured off the court.
The team finished second in group d with a 2-4 record and totaled eight points to advance as one of 12 qualifiers to the 2025 FIBA Americup August 23-31 in Managua, Nicaragua.
Against the usa, Domnick Bridgewater led four Bahamians in double figures with 19 points.
Franco Miller Jr had 18, Tavario Miller Sr scored 14, and Lathaniel Bastian finished with 10 points and nine
Rebounds.
Cuba was disqualified after forfeiting their final game against Puerto Rico due to visa issues. Thus, The Bahamas and Puerto Rico both advanced out of group d alongside the United States.
The Americup field includes host Nicaragua, Uruguay, Brazil, the USA, Argentina, Colomba, Panama, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, and The Bahamas.
The Dominican Republic, Canada, and Mexico are vying for the final two spots in the 12 team field.
