St.John’s College Giants Win Three BAISS Championships

The St. John’s College Giants did something unbelivable in 2024 by winning three of four BAISS basketball titles, what’s even more unbelivable, they returned to do the same thing in 2025.

The Giants closed out the final night of the BAISS playoffs with with wins in all three deciding games to take the junior girls, junior boys, and senior boys titles last night at the Kendal Isaacs Gymnasium.

In the senior boys division, the Giants saved their most dominant performance of the series for when it mattered most a 73-55 win over the Queen’s College Comets.

Leonardo Rolle scored a game high 21 points, all in the second half, to lead three Giants in double figures.

Deren Moultrie scored 13 off the bench, and Joshua Russell added 12 points.

Talon Higgs led the comets with 21 points, Daniel Rolle added 13 and Tayshaun Taylor scored 11.

The Giants junior boys lost game one but completed the backdoor sweep with a 45-42 win in game three.

This one wasn’t without its fair share of controversy.

The Giants trailed 42-40 with just 27 seconds left to play but scored five unanswered to rally for the win.

After the Giants made a free throw, the Falcons inbounded the ball with six players on the court and somehow got away with it.

They still turned it over and it resulted in Deandre Baker’s go ahead layup to give the Giants junior boys back to back titles.

In junior girls play, the Giants rebounded from a game two overtime loss to close out the series with a 37-29 over the CW Saunders cougars.

Zhuri Hanna finished with 10 points and Melodi Ferguson added eight.
