Just days after being named the 17th overall prospect in the minor leagues, Sebastian Walcott is headed to big league spring training with the Texas Rangers.
The 18-year-old shortstop will be one of 18 non-roster invitees when the club hosts spring training next month in Surprise, Arizona.
That list also includes 2024 first-round pick Malcolm Moore and 2024 Rangers minor league player of the year Alejandro Osuna.
The rangers are scheduled to play 33 spring training games in the Cactus League.
Walcott heads into the season ranked as the top prospect in the rangers organization and fourth overall at shortstop
He was a South Atlantic League All-Star and the Rangers’ minor league player of the year.
