Bahaminas In NCAA Track & Field

The NCAA indoor season continues for Bahamian student athletes headlined, by several school record setting performances on the track.

Wanya Mccoy of the Florida Gators was one of his team’s top performers at the Corky Classic, hosted by Texas Tech University.

Mccoy won the first-round heat, semifinal, and the final of the men’s 60m, but it was his semifinal time of 6.53 seconds that left the lasting mark on the Gator record books.

His new personal best, placed him third all time on Florida’s program all-time leaderboard.

He was also a member of the 4x400m team that ran 3:02.80 seconds, the seventh-fastest time in program history.

Also at the meet, Antoine Andrews ran won his semifinal heat of the 60m hurdles in 7.52 seconds.

The time stands as a new Texas Tech school record and a top five ncaa time this season.

Shatalya Dorsett, made her debut with the Georgia Southern Eagles at the Jimmy Carnes Invitational.

The sophomore won the 60m in 7.44 seconds, the fourth best indoor time in program history.

She also finished second in the 200m in 24.16 seconds, also fourth all-time.

Senior Robynn Rolle-Curry rolled to victory in the 400 meter event with a time of 56.04 (fifth in division ii).
