Bahamas Beach Soccer Team holds their own in Europe

The Bahamas National beach soccer team has spent the past couple of weeks playing a number of exhibition games against a number of local clubs and other national teams throughout Italy, Austria and Switzerland.

On Saturday the team took on European Champs Viareggio. Jumping out to a 1-0 lead with a goal from captain Gavin Christie. Viareggio would eventually tie the game and go on to win 5-3 but not without giving up goals to Kyle Williams and Tim Munnings Jr.

On Sunday the team traveled to Pisa, Italy to take on the local club there.
The National team fell to Pisa 5-3 with a hat trick from Leslie St. Jean.

Following the Italian stretch the National team headed back to their training facility in Basel, Switzerland to play a friendly against the Swiss National team.

The match against Switzerland turned out to be a shootout with both teams exchanging leads early on before Bahamian squad accumulated a 6-3 lead going into the final period but the Swiss team went on a run resulting in a tie at the end of regulation.

The Bahamian National team has a busy schedule ahead of them having series of friendlies against the Tahitian, and Italian National teams in the next few weeks. They’re also scheduled to take on the Estonian National team in their home country.
