Despite giving up a double digit lead in the fourth quarter, the Noble Preparatory Academy Spartans still managed to escape with the win over the R.M. Bailey Pacers in the championship game of the first ever Noble Academy Spring Classic at the Kendal G.L. Isaacs Gymnasium yesterday.
A late 8-0 run, capped off with a huge dunk by tournament MVP Kenneth Reckley, allowed the Spartans to pull away late and secure the 58-52 victory.
“I have confidence in my team and I know that basketball is a game of runs, and we knew they were going to make one, but we were able to keep our composure and match the intensity,” said Spartans head coach Geno Bullard Sr.
Along with the MVP trophy, Reckley received the tournament’s ultimate prize, a full four year scholarship to Niagara College in Canada.
“I’m grateful that I was selected as the MVP. It’s a feeling I can’t describe,” said Reckley. “I owe it all to my teammates. We all fought hard and it’s great that we could get the win at our tournament.”
Members of the All-Tournament first team included- Adam Johnson, Rhandon Scott, Troy Tremblay, Azaro Roker, Cory Sands, Lyndon Wallce, Samuel Dean, Henrick Sands, Tyreke Colebrooke, Kenneth Reckley and Aaron Lloyd.
