Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson plans to pay homage to his father Mychal “Sweet Bells” Thompson and his home country this weekend when he debuts the ANTA KT 2 Bahamas during the 2017 NBA All-Star Game.
Klay, who spent parts of his childhood in the Bahamas, said he wanted a shoe that helps him reminisce on those times.
The shoes feature a light Turquoise and White color scheme that’s said to be inspired by the vibrant crystal clear waters and the scattered-cloud sky of the Bahamas.
Inside the tongue, the shoe features Chinese lettering that reads “Wise schooling has produced excellence beyond the teacher. The follower has surpassed the master.”
The quote is a good representation of Klay and his father’s relationship, as it relates to the game of basketball.
Mychal’s influence can clearly be seen in Klay’s game, but there’s definitely some new school flavor to the new-age superstar.
In addition to the Sunday’s All-Star game, Klay will also look to defend his 3-point championship tomorrow, and there’s a chance he’ll wear them both days.
The Anta KT 2 Bahamas are said to be available at select ANTA stockists.
