Roker to play for St Francis Xavier University

Anatol Rodgers Senior High School graduate Azaro Roker, this week, was afforded an opportunity to take his game to the next level, and play collegiately for the St. Francis Xavier University X-Men this season. St. Francis Xavier is located in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Roker is expected to be a welcomed addition for the X-Men, who finished with a 5-15 win/loss record last season.

St. Francis Xavier struggled mightily on the glass and was consistently out-rebounded by larger teams. They are hoping that the 6-foot-6 New Providence native could give them the boost they need down low.

In the past, Roker has shown that he’s a capable shooter; and with a more consistent touch, he could become a valuable scoring option for the X-Men.

Roker is headed into the season off a productive summer in which he competed in both the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL) exhibition game and the Buddy Hield Invitational.

Against a team comprised of the top high school basketball players in the United States, Roker dropped in 11 points to go along with nine rebounds. With Team Bahamas down 30, Roker sparked a 10-2 scoring run in the second half that got The Bahamas back in the game. That run was highlighted by a pair of throw-downs by him.

At the Buddy Hield Invitational in July, Roker finished with 22 points and 13 rebounds in a 94-93 loss for Team Elite. He also took home the Slam Dunk Contest trophy after he threw down a pair of amazing dunks that turned Kendal G.L. Isaacs National Gymnasium on its ear.

Also, Roker averaged 10 points and 10 rebounds per game through six games at this year’s Hugh Campbell Basketball Invitational. Additionally, he was also a standout performer at the International Basketball Academy/Get Me Recruited Showcase, the Darrell Sears Showcase, the Top Elite Basketball Showcase and he played for IBA (International Basketball Academy) Elite in the Bahamas Basketball Federation’s (BAB) Summer of Thunder exhibition series.
