Justin Gatlin Confirmed for World Relays

With Usain Bolt giving the IAAF/BTC World Relays the green light, Justin Gatlin of the USA decided he too wanted to get in on the action.

The 2004 Olympic champion, Justin Gatlin, breezed through his competition last year securing the world number 1 ranking in both the 100 meters and 200 meters. While Bolt’s injury riddle season did not allow him to participate numerous events.

The last time the two faced off against each other was in the 2013 World Championships in Moscow, where both Bolt and Gatlin ran the anchor legs for their country, with Bolt crossing the line first to give Jamaica the win.

Even though the World Relays are not an individual event, the fans will be hoping to see both Bolt and Gatlin in the anchor legs.  Jamaica and USA are set be the favorites in the 100 meters and 200 meters relay events.

Bolt who currently owns the both the 100 meters (9.58) and 200 meters (19.19) world Records looks to start his season this year on April 19 in Rio de Janeiro.

Gatlin on the other hand has yet to announce his schedule. He set personal his bests in the 100 meters at 9.77 and in the 200 meters 19.68 in 2014.

The IAAF World Relays are set to take place May 2-3 at the Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium in Nassau, Bahamas.
