Before the game started Bermudas head coach Andrew Bascome said “ my concern is to make sure we cover all the basic principles in both defense and offense, because our next round will be tough against and its not unless we address tho concerns that we can move on to Guatemala.”

Bahamas head coach, Dion Godet, statement before the game was simple, but he knows there is more to this game than just winning. “its  must win, Bermuda can probably sit back, but we got to find a way to in, produce a result. The win may not camion to the next found but its for development and for the guys to appreciated that you can be down but you got to get back up.” said Godet

Needing a Miracle to advance to the Second round of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifying. Team Bahamas took the field against Bermuda for the second leg in front of a sold out crowd.

The Bahamas defense came out to play this game as they were clamping down on the Bermudian attack early.

In the 30th minute ,Justin Donawa, who scored 2 goals in the first game, had to be taken off the field by a stretcher and was replaced by Jonte Smith.

The Bahamas got a break when the conceded and penalty shot to Bermuda in the 45th minute, where Captain Nahki Wells missed the shot by hitting the cross bar.

The teams went into halftime tied 0-0.

In the second half the Bahamas played with urgency, but that did not stop the Bermudians in scoring a flurry of goals late in the game.

In the 79th minute the tie was broken when captian Nahki Wells put the ball past Bahamian goal keeper Dwayne Whylly.

3 minutes later Tyrell Burgess doubled the Bermuda lead, and the Bahamas team was deflated. Any chance of them making it a game went out the window as Wells preceded to put the last nail in the coffin scoring in the 87th minute.

It was not what the result the Bahamas expected, after showing promise against the US Under 23 Mens National team last summer. With their qualification dreams over, The Bahamas will have to go back to the drawing board to see how and what they can improve for future tournaments, and games.

Bermuda advances to 2nd round, to take on Guatemala, with an 8-0 aggregate win over the Bahamas.
