BAISS Sr Boys Finals: Giants Stand Tall In Game One

Raheem Nixon’s only point of the game was a free throw in the game’s waning moments to lift the Giants to a 69-67 win over the Queen’s College Comets in game one of the BAISS Senior Boys championship series.

Brian Cleare led the Giants with 22 points, Dwight Wheatley finished with 19 and Ayinee Maynard added nine.Kafiannan King scored a game high 23 points to lead the Comets, Bhylan Culmer had 14 and Kevin Miller finished with 13.

The Comets led 17-14 after the first quarter and took a 37-29 lead at the half.

It was a 21-12 run for the Giants in the third quarter as they took control of the game and headed into the fourth with a double digit lead, 57-46.

The Giants led 67-65, before King and Culmer each split a pair at the line to tie the game at 67.

St. John’s would responded with free throws from Darius Major and Nixon to take game one.

Game two is scheduled for today, Tuesday February 10 and game three will follow on Wednesday if necessary
