The Inaugural Popeyes Bahamas Bowl has announced the teams which will be playing at the Thomas A Robinson National stadium December 24.
Representivies from the Mid-American Conference will be the Central Michigan Chippewas (7-5) and from Conference USA the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers (7-5).
This will be Central Michigan’s 8th bowl game (3-4). The Chippewas had some key wins this season, beating Purdue from the BIG10 and beating the eventual MAC champions Northern Illinois in the regular season. They Posted a 5-3 record in the MAC western division where 4 teams in that division became bowl eligible.
This will be Western Kentucky’s 4th bowl appearance (2-1). The Hilltoppers started off the season with beating The MAC runners up Bowling Green in emphatic fashion. They then proceeded to go 4-4 in C-USA with their biggest win coming at the end of the season where they knocked off the 24th ranked Marshall Thundering herd.
These two teams already have postseason history together as they meet in the Little Caesars Bowl in 2012, where the Chippewas beat the Hilltoppers 24-21.
